The Jyotirlinga is indeed a sacred temple devoted to Lord Shiva’s devotion. These temples honor Lord Shiva within the style of such a Jyotirlingam (Light). Jyotirlinga signifies ‘The Brilliance of Lord Shiva,’ with ‘Jyoti’ representing ‘glory or light’ and ‘Lingam’ indicating ‘a sign or a representation of Lord Shiva.’ Such 12 jyotirlingas are thought to be ‘Swayambhu,’ or self-manifested. Lord Shiva appeared in these locations solely for the benefit of his worshippers.
Somnath Jyotirlinga
Somnath Jyotirlinga is the first of all the Jyotirlinga in India, situated in Gujrat. Because the Somnath temple represents Hinduism’s heritage, it is one of India’s biggest temple complexes. Somnath Temple is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. The early aarti is done at 7:00 a.m. Around 8 and 9 p.m., a visual and sound performance takes place in the evenings. Just after evening aarti, you could purchase tickets for such a program. So let me inform you that there are no pre-registration procedures for this performance. You are not permitted to bring your bag, keys, cameras, or phones throughout the presentation.
Jyotirlinga of Kedarnath
Due to the harsh winter and snowfall, the Kedarnath Mandir is only open for 6 months. It is stated that simply visiting the Kedarnath temple will bring you peace. The Shiva Purana and the Skanda Purana both mention the Kedarnath shrine. Let us inform you that Guru Shankaracharya’s samadhi is located directly beyond the shrine. Because not everybody can travel to the shrine, mules are used.
Jyotirlinga Kashi Vishwanath
Kashi Vishwanath, commonly called the Golden Temple in Banaras, is among India’s top prominent Jyotirlingas. Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar constructed it in 1780. Lord Shiva is claimed to reside in Kashi, where he relieves everybody’s sorrows and grants them bliss and deliverance. Worshippers also thought that even during the Holocaust, nothing else would happen to this city or the Kashi Vishwanath Mandir.
Jyotirlinga Nageshwar
Nageshwar Jyotirling is perhaps the most potent of all the 12 Jyotirlinga, and it is a sign of safety against toxins of all types. Each year, countless worshippers flock to this shrine to seek Lord Shiva’s graces. Let us point you that it is the only Jyotirling shrine in India with a 25-meter-high Lord Shiva idol.
Jyotirlinga Bhimashankar
Perhaps you are unaware that Maharashtra is home to 5 of the twelve Jyotirlingas. Among them is Bhimashankar, located 110 kilometres from Pune on the Suhadri mountain. After this, the Bhima River drains into the Krishna River at Raichur.
Jyotirlinga Trimbakeshwar
Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga is the second of Maharashtra’s five Jyotirlinga and the third of India’s twelve Jyotirlinga. It is located 25 kilometres from Nashik district, close to the Brahmagiri range. The Gautami Ganga is said to have its origins in the Brahmagiri mountains. As per the legend surrounding this Jyotirlinga, Rishi Gautam prayed that Lord Shiva stay here for the benefit of humanity. Lord Shiva arrived in the shape of Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga while approving his plea.
Jyotirlinga Grishneshwar
The enormous Nandi bull inside the grand lobby and the Dashavatar statues of Lord Vishnu sculpted here on red rock is one of the shrine’s prominent features. That lovely temple is in Verul village, about 1-2 kilometres from the Ajanta and Ellora caves. Ghrneshwar or Ghushmeshwar Temple is another name for Grishneshwar Temple.
Jyotirlinga Baidyanath
Vaidyanath is one of the greatest revered Jyotirlingas in India. Ravana wished to bring Lord Shiva with himself, for that he had performed meditation for years, as per mythical traditions. Lord Shiva was delighted with his devotion and handed him one among his Jyotirlingas, promising that it would be erected anywhere it touched the land. On the other hand, the deities did not desire Jyotirlinga to make it to Lanka. They utilised deception before arriving in Lanka and formed the Jyotirlinga in Jharkhand. Baidyanath Temple is the location where such a Jyotirlinga was erected.
Jyotirlinga Omkareshwar
Nearby Indore lies the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga. This shrine is revered as one of India’s greatest holy places, and two of the twelve Jyotirlingas (12) are in the MP. Because the Narmada River streams surrounding this shrine in the form of Om, it is called Omkareshwar Jyotirling.
Jyotirlinga Mahakaleshwar
Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, or shrine, is one of India’s 12 Jyotirlinga (12) temples located in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. Shrikar, a five-year-old kid, is reported to have constructed this shrine after being influenced by King Chandra Sen of Ujjain’s dedication.
Jyotirlinga of Rameshwaram
Upon this, Rameshwaram Island in Tamil Nadu, among the most prominent Jyotirlinga, and one of the Char Dham, is situated. After destroying Ravana, Lord Rama is said to have worshipped this Jyotirlinga. The primary draw for pilgrims visiting the Rameshwaram shrine is Dhanush Kodi. That is from here that Lord Ram constructed Ram Setu to enter Lanka.
Jyotirlinga Mallikarjuna
This shrine, popularly called Kailash of a South, is situated on Andhra Pradesh’s Shail Mountain. Srisailam Temple is another name for Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga Temple.
