Chopta is a small village which is located in the Uttarakhand is famous for its beautiful scenes and mind-blowing landscapes. The region is full of magnificent meadows and grasslands, dense forest lands, streams etc. Chopta is reported to be a part of the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary of Uttarakhand. Chopta is basically located at an altitude of about 8,556 ft which is 2,608 meters above the mean sea level. The Chopta village is sourrounded by forest areas which are full of valuable trees like the Pine trees, Oak, Rhododendron and Deodar trees.
The best time to visit the Chopta is from the months of April to November. The Chopta village is approximately 46 km away from the Ukhimath, Rishikesh is around 163 km away. There are many Musk Deers which can be seen in the forest areas of Chopta.
Chandrashila is a summit which can be found near the Tungnath temple. The Chandrashila is mainly popular for its peak. Chandrashila is located at an elevation of about 12,110 ft which is around 3,690 meters above the mean sea level.

Chopta Chandrashila Trekking route overview
The Chopta Chandrashila trekking route will take around 4 to 5 days to complete by the trekkers.
The maximum altitude of the trekking route may reach a height of about 12,083 ft above the mean sea level.
The Chopta Chandrashila trekking route is generally safe and a perfect trekking route for the beginners.
The temperature variations can be seen- Temperature during the Day remains between 8 degree to 15 degrees. And during the night it extends from -5 degrees to 3 degrees.
There will be 6 to 7 hours of trekking Daily on an average.
The trekkers can reach the base camp of the Chopta Chandrashila trekking route either by Railway, by Air and by Road(although not much prefered).
Chopta Chandrashila trekking route itinerary
Day 1: Reaching the base camp
The trekkers from different parts will first reach Haridwar, which will be the base camp early morning. After that the trekkers will have breakfast together. All the members will get the chance to get introduced with one another, have little talks etc. Next, the trekkers will be allotted vehicles for a long drive of around 7 to 8 hours to Chopta. The trekkers will come across many beautiful grasslands, valleys and meadows on their way to Chopta. After reaching Chopta, camping will be done here for tonight.
Day 2: Chopta to Chandrashila and then back to Chopta
The trekkers will start their trekking early in the morning just after having a quick breakfast in order to cover a 6 km long trekking route. The trekkers will first head towards the Tungnath temple which is present at an altitude of about 3680m above the mean sea level. After that the trekkers will move towards the Chandrashila peak, the main attraction of this trekking route. The trekkers will finally head back to their Chopta camping site.
Day 3 : Chopta to Deoria Tal and then to Sari
Today, the trekkers will first head towards the famous Sari village, and then will move towards the Deoriatal. Here, the trekkers will get the amazing view of the mountains and their magnificent peaks. The lunch will be done after returning from the Deoriatal to Sari. The camping for tonight will be placed at Sari. Dinner will be done later. All the trekkers will enjoy their last night at Chopta Chandrashila trekking route. There will be bonfires, singing, music etc.
Day 4: From Sari to Haridwar
The trekkers after having their breakfast, will head back to the base camp i.e Haridwar by vehicles covering a total of 8 to 10 hours drive. The distance covered will be approximately 235 km. Finally, after reaching Haridwar everyone will be off for their destinations.
