What Is a Crack Cake?

This cake is addictive like Crack claims to be! I’m not sure about the actual Crack but the cake I’m able to confirm is addictive.

It begins with a box that contains yellow cake mixes, which includes a few additional ingredients to make a delicious cake. Once the cake has baked, it’s poked across the cake to create a wine-sugar-butter-glazed. Wow. Room temperature, cold, or warm, this cake is an absolute winner.

1 Box Duncan Hines yellow cake mix

1/4 1 c brown sugar

1/4 1 c white sugar

1 box vanilla pudding instant mix

2 teaspoons of cinnamon

4 eggs

3/4 c of water

3/4 c oil

1/2 cup white wine 1/2 c white (really any wine, but I usually use my preferred pinot grigio)

any cake that has my most favorite element, wine is perfect for me.


1 stick of butter

1 cup of sugar

White wine 1/4 cup


Preheat the oven to 350°F.

Mix all the ingredients above by hand or using a hand mixer.

Make sure to grease a bundt pan thoroughly. (I employ butter and Pam Baking Spray)

Put the mixture in the baking pan, and bake for 1 hour up to the point that a sharp knife is clean.

The cake is out from the oven…

Melt 1 stick butter with 1 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of wine.

Pour the hot cake over. (I poke holes into the cake to let it absorb the water.)


Take it out of the pan and place on a platter and then serve (I took the cake out with a the help of a spatula that is flexible and shake-shake-shake it and then bang it to help pull it all into a single piece!)

There are only few things

Yellow Cake Mix, ensure that it’s in a 15.25oz size box

Instant Vanilla Pudding, be sure that the container is a 3.4oz size container

Ground Cinnamon

Brown Sugar

Granulated sugar is used for both the cake as well as the glaze

Large Eggs, at room temperature

Vegetable Oil


Pure Vanilla Extract- both for the cake and glaze

White Wineis used to be used for both the cake and the glaze


Do you prepare Crack Cake?

4oz ( 1/2 Cup) White Wine


4oz ( 1/2 Cup) Salted Butter

200g (1 Cup) Granulated Sugar

2oz ( 1/4 Cup) White Wine

1 Tablespoon Pure Vanilla Extract


Preheat oven until 350F/180C. grease the 10-cup Bundt Pan. Set aside.

1/4 cup of brown sugar

Two teaspoons ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon of salt from kosher.

4 large eggs, room temperature

3 cups of drinking water

3/4 cup vegetable oil

1/2 cup white wine

Two teaspoons of vanilla extract


One stick ( half cup) of unflavored butter

1 Cup sugar

1/4 cup white wine

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

A pinch of salt

Preheat the oven at 350o. Make sure to grease your bundt cake pan using “Pam Baking Spray” or with baking spray/butter along with flour (see the section below for the preparation of your bundt pan).

A large mixing bowl mix the cake mix and vanilla pudding mix with cinnamon, sugars and salt. Whisk until combined.

In a separate bowl or mixing cup, mix together the eggs with the oil, water wine, vanilla and eggs and mix until it is well-mixed.

Add the wet ingredients to dry components.

With a mixer on hand use a hand mixer to beat the mixture on moderate speed for approximately 2 minutes, or until all ingredients are well mixed as well as the mix has a slight thickening.
